The wire is reporting that Dean is expected to end his campaign today, following his third-place showing in Wisconsin. It's been widely expected that Dean, whose antipathy to Kerry is well-known, will at least tacitly throw his support to Edwards. If so, that could give Edwards a significant boost if Dean's delegates sign on with the southern Senator. The Democrats have only collected a few hundred delegates, and there's thousands left to pick up. If Edwards picks up momentum between now and March, the race for the nomination could last right up to the convention.

Following up on the story of Spc. Ryan Anderson, the National Guardsman accused of attempting to pass sensitive information to Islamist terrorists, brings us to the murky underside of Usenet, where Anderson has a long and varied trail of posts. The picture they paint is of a young man whose desire to belong led him to various dark subcultures, from American militias to Islamism. Some interesting posts are: here, here, here, here (start of conversion to Islam), here, here (personal ad), and here (Mossad conspiracy theory).

Juan Cole has a very important note on the translation of the (alleged) Zarqawi memo. There's nothing more dangerous than a translation assumed to be canonical. I'll have more on the Zarqawi memo soon, and how so many radically different interpretations of its import have arisen.
